This comprehensive test kit includes a laboratory test for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Trichomonas and Mycoplasma, combined with an HIV self-test and a Syphilis self-test that you can easily carry out at home. Reliable laboratory test from The Tester Our laboratory test for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Trichomonas and Mycoplasma meets all European guidelines and is CE-certified. This means the test has been validated for accuracy and safety. Your samples are carefully analysed in a qualified laboratory by certified specialists, resulting in reliable and accurate test results. What is tested? This test focuses on detecting the following STIs: Chlamydia trachomatis (lab test) Neisseria gonorrhoeae (gonorrhoea) (lab test) Trichomonas vaginalis (lab test) Mycoplasma genitalium (lab test) HIV type 1 & 2 (self-test) Syphilis (Treponema pallidum) (self-test) For reliable results, it is important to take the incubation periods into account: Chlamydia: 14 days Gonorrhoea: 14 days Trichomonas: 28 days Mycoplasma: 28 days Syphilis: 4 weeks If you test before the incubation period has passed, there is a risk of a false-negative result. In that case, we recommend repeating the test once the full incubation period has elapsed. How do the HIV and Syphilis self-tests work? The HIV self-test and Syphilis self-test detect antibodies in your blood that indicate an infection. The HIV self-test measures antibodies against HIV-1 and HIV-2. These are the most common forms of the human immunodeficiency virus. The Syphilis self-test detects antibodies against Treponema pallidum, the bacterium that causes syphilis. Both tests work with a simple finger-prick. Within 10-15 minutes you receive a reliable result. In the event of a positive result, we recommend contacting a doctor for further confirmation and treatment. Mind the window period and incubation period: HIV: It can take 6 to 12 weeks before the body produces enough antibodies to be detected by the test. For this reason, a test taken shortly after exposure may give a false-negative result. If you have recently been at risk, we recommend testing again after 3 months. Syphilis: The incubation period is 4 weeks. This means the test can only give a reliable result once it has been at least 4 weeks since the last high-risk sexual contact. What do the test results mean? Laboratory test results (Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Trichomonas & Mycoplasma) Negative result: There are no indications of an infection, provided the test was carried out correctly and you took the incubation period into account. Positive result: An infection with one of the four bacteria tested has been detected. We advise you to contact your GP as soon as possible for further diagnosis and treatment. It is wise to inform any sexual partners. HIV and Syphilis self-test results What is the accuracy of the HIV 1 & 2 self-test? Looking at sensitivity and specificity, the reliability values of the HIV test are very high. In addition, the test is also IVD-certified. The sensitivity of a medical test is the percentage of correctly positive results in people who are ill. Sensitivity = 99.3% The specificity of a test is the percentage of correctly negative results in people who are not ill. Specificity = 99.7% Overall accuracy = 99.6% compared to the standard laboratory test What is the accuracy of the syphilis self-test? Sensitivity = 83% & Specificity = 98% Negative result: No antibodies against HIV or Syphilis found. Keep the window period for HIV and the incubation period for Syphilis in mind. Positive result: Antibodies have been found. Contact your GP or a specialist as soon as possible for further confirmation and treatment.
